Police officers apprehend a pro-Palestinian protester on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at the corner of Jefferson and High streets in Jefferson City, Mo. The arrest was made after the protester was involved in an altercation with Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, who approached and then walked behind the line of protesters. Ashcroft walked off after the arrest. The protest was following an appearance by Israeli Consul General Maor Elbaz-Starinsky in the state Capitol earlier in the day and took place outside a reception held for Elbaz-Starinsky.
Luka Turanjanin is a sophomore journalism student at Mizzou and has mixed-type ADHD. He takes his medication in his bedroom on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023 at his apartment in Columbia, Mo. Turanjanin takes extended-relief Adderall and talks about the effects of the Adderall shortage on his ability to get his medications. Although he has tried other ADHD medications, Adderall has helped him the most.

Derek and his wife, Ramona, have four daughters. Two of them live in the area with their own kids who are the fourth generation of Whitlocks in the bootheel. Derek is taking over his family farm this year as the fourth—and potentially final—generation to run the farm, and just finished up the soybean harvest this year at the end of September. Before beginning the cotton harvest, Derek helps out with taking care of the grandkids.
