Sasha, was born on Sept. 8, 2021. Two weeks after giving birth, Golieva submitted her official application to be on the ballot for Aarhus city council. Janssen stays home with Sasha while Golieva is campaigning. In Denmark, parents have a combined 52 weeks of paid leave, 32 of which can be shared between the mother and father however they choose. According to Golieva, they are fortunate to both be home at the same time. “I think it is a shame that maternity leave has been designed so that there is only one person at a time,” Golieva said.
